Friction Demonstration Device (Tribometer)
Product Code : JL-GLE-11212
The Friction Demonstration Device (Tribometer), SKU JL-GLE-11212, is a JaincoLab apparatus for friction experiments. A wooden plane 81.5 x 10 x 2 cm can be set at angles from 0 to 45 degrees on a metal stand, and a 200 g trolley with a small friction roller at one end is pulled or allowed to slide on it while masses from 10 g to 100 g change the load. The stand holds the plane at the chosen angle and the S-shaped holder carries the masses.

Experiments with the tribometer
Practicals the tribometer supports:
- Comparing sliding and rolling friction
- Finding the angle at which the trolley starts to slide
- Changing the load with masses to see its effect on friction
- Measuring the pull needed to move the loaded trolley at a steady speed
Scope of supply and ordering
The tribometer is supplied with the plane, trolley, stand, masses and hook listed.
Frequently asked questions
How far can the plane be tilted?
From 0 to 45 degrees.
What are the trolley size and mass?
10 x 8 x 4 cm and 200 g.
Which masses are supplied?
Weights from 10 g to 100 g.
What is the roller on the trolley for?
A small friction roller is fixed at one end of the trolley, so rolling can be compared with sliding.
