Flame emission photometry is the principle behind JaincoLab's Microprocessor Flame Photometers, which measure sodium, potassium and lithium concentrations in liquid samples aspirated into a flame. Results appear directly as concentration on a digital display, serving electrolyte estimation in clinical and pharmaceutical labs, potassium and sodium tests on soil and fertiliser, and mineral content in drinking and process water; listed models are JA-MFP-2226, JA-MFP-2227 and the Digital Flame Photometer JA-MFP-2228.

What is a Microprocessor Flame Photometer?
A microprocessor flame photometer determines the concentration of alkali and alkaline-earth metal ions — chiefly sodium, potassium and lithium — in a liquid sample. The sample is aspirated into a flame, where the metal atoms emit light at characteristic wavelengths; the instrument's optical filters and photodetector measure this emitted light intensity, and a microprocessor converts the reading into a direct concentration value on a digital display. It is widely used for electrolyte estimation in clinical and pharmaceutical laboratories, fertiliser and soil analysis in agricultural testing, and mineral content estimation in water testing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which ions can a microprocessor flame photometer measure, and how is it different from a pH meter?
A microprocessor flame photometer measures sodium, potassium and lithium concentrations by flame emission, while a pH meter measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution using an electrode — they are used for different parameters and are typically both present in a well-equipped analytical laboratory.
How does a microprocessor flame photometer turn a sample into a reading?
The liquid sample is aspirated into a flame, where metal atoms emit light at characteristic wavelengths; optical filters and a photodetector measure that light, and the microprocessor converts the intensity into a concentration value on the digital display.
